CVRT (Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance Tracked) Spartan Armoured Personnel Carrier
Recently released from the UK MoD, Alvis CVRT Spartan armoured personnel carrier (APC), fitted Cummins 190hp turbo diesel, David Brown TN 15 semi-automatic gear box, 7 speed forward / 7 speed reverse, neutral turn facility, 24v electrics, approximately 50mph top speed, steel tracks with rubber pads, torsion bar suspension with dampers and adjustment, etc, smoke dischargers, commanders turret with vision scopes spot lights and gun mount socket, crew seats with belts, roof storage box etc.
The FV103 Spartan is a tracked armoured personnel carrier of the British Army. It was developed as the APC variant of the CVRT family. The vehicle can carry up to 7 personnel, including 3 crew members. This is the upgraded version with Cummins diesel engine and uprated gearbox.
The chassis and suspension of the Spartan are shared with all other members of the CVRT family. The aluminium hull on the Spartan is enlarged to a box configuration to accommodate the driver, team commander/radio operator and the vehicle commander who also operates the 7.62-mm MG mounted over his cupola; the MG can be aimed and fired from within the vehicle.
