These are used for connecting vehicles with flat batteries to running vehicles for instant start in the field.
They are very heavy duty and are used for MoD vehicles ranging from Land Rovers to Main Battle Tanks.
They can be adapted to take crocodile clips or Anderson Sockets at one or both ends.
